Hoong Bee obtained her Film Scoring degree from Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA in 2004. Upon the completion of her studies, she moved to Los Angeles, California and assisted Mr. Lawrence Shragge, a film composer for the Hallmark Entertainment, ESPN Original Entertainment and the USA Channel.
In 2005, Hoong Bee won The Spirit of Moondance in the Moondance Film Festival, Los Angeles, California for her composition for a short film named ‘Have You Ever Thought About it’. She has since composed for several other feature films, shorts and commercials. A short film she composed for ‘Sorry’, directed by Joe Dietl, won third place in the 2007 SpyFest.
Hoong Bee began her teaching career at UCSI University as a Composition Adjunct Lecturer in 2009 and became a full-time staff in 2012. She continued her education pathway and received her graduate degree in Master of Music Technology from the University of Newcastle, Australia in 2016.
It has always been an interest for Hoong Bee to be involved in community service. She has been an active participant, performer, and composer for the All About Love nonprofit organisation since 2016. Her composition entitled ‘Make A Wish’, for one of the benefit recitals was later adopted by the Make-A-Wish Malaysia as the official corporate song in 2017.
