Forum On The Adoption Of Blockchain Technology


UCSI University’s Logistics Student Association (LSA) recently participated in a forum, namely, the Adoption of Blockchain in the Industry and Higher Learning. The forum was hosted by Kryptosys, Syscode, Selangor Business School, University of Selangor and Percetakan Nasional Malaysia Berhad (PNMB).

The purpose of this event was to understand the function of Blockchain in the corporate world and in the education industry. A total of 36 students from the BA (Hons) Logistics Management, BA (Hons) Supply Chain Operation Management and MSc in Logistics Management programmes seized the opportunity to attend and gain insights from this forum led by Logistics Management Head of Department, Assistant Professor Siti Norida Wahab.

The forum was held in UNISEL Selangor Business School, Level 11, Menara PKNS. The forum focused on presentations and discussions on how Blockchain Technology can be implemented via the use of smart contracts and decentralised applications for various industries and institutes of higher learning.

The target audience of the forum included Small Medium Businesses (SMB), medium or large enterprises and institutes of higher learning that would like to know more about Blockchain and how it can potentially improve processes and efficiency of organisations.

The forum started off with a welcome speech by Tan Sri Abu Zahar bin Dato’ Nika Ujang (Chairman of PNMB) and a keynote address by Professor Dr Mohd Faiz Abdullah (Advisor to the Minister of Economic Affairs).

Talks included Blockchain Introductory and Identity Management by Reza Ismail (CEO/ Founder of Syscode), Roadmap for Blockchain Adoption: Example in Track-and-Trace Solution by Mohd Hedzri Jaafar (Manager,Venture Dept PNMB), Blockchain and Smart Contract for University Certification Authentication by Mohd Fariz M. Jaafar (CIO, Centre of ICT UNISEL) and a closing speech by Dato’ Dr Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab (CEO, CyberSercurity Malaysia).

This event was a success and very informative as it enlightened students on Blockchain Technology and its applications in the corporate world as well as in higher education. It was also helpful as Blockchain Technology is relevant in the Logistics and Supply Chain Operation fields. Hence, students and participants were able to enhance their knowledge relevant to their studies in UCSI University.
