Gawai celebration at UCSI University Kuching


KUALA LUMPUR: UCSI University Kuching Campus held a fund-raising Gawai dinner, organised by its Event & Tourism Club. More than 70 guests attended the celebration on 9 June 2015, from 5pm - 9.30pm. Themed ‘Exploring Sarawak’s Dayak Culture’, the dinner highlights the uniqueness of the Dayak culture, that can only be found on the island of Borneo. 

In addition to traditional Dayak cuisine, guests also enjoyed cultural performances such as the bamboo dance, the art of the blow pipe and a talk by the Dayak Bidayuh National Association. Local band, ‘The Testament’, was also part of the entertainment line-up. 

At the end of the event, the organising committee extended their appreciation to Aroma Cafe, Mr Charlie Ungang, Vice-President of Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA), Planet Borneo Tour and Travel Sdn Bhd, The Dyak, Bungalow 8, Data Print Centre, Events Horizon Management, Hock Star Entertainment, Absolute Tribal Restaurant, The Quad Fine Dining Restaurant and Fisherman’s Wharf for their sponsorship support in terms of cash and products. 

UCSI University Sarawak Campus offers degree programmes in Commerce, Event and Tourism Management as well as Hospitality Management. It also offers diploma programmes including those in the fields of Hotel Management, Culinary Arts and Leisure Management. The Centre for Pre-U Studies offers Foundations in both Science and Arts.
