LAUNCH OF UCSI’S myPROFILE AND eALUMNI WEB PORTALS

KUALA LUMPUR, 17 October 2007 - The Deputy Minister of Higher Education (MoHE) of Malaysia, Yang Berhormat Datuk Ong Tee Keat launched UCSI’s myProfile and eAlumni web portals today.

In his foreword, he emphasised on the timeliness of UCSI’s move in launching the Web Portals. He said that, the advancement in ICT and subsequent roll-out of various communication tools such as the handphone, notebooks and personal digital assistants (PDAs) allow for easy access to information. He pointed out that the marketing of graduates and the provision of links for internship and job training attachments for current students will be significantly enhanced as these portals are visible to the world.
Datuk Ong stressed that the myProfile and eAlumni initiatives are great tools for promoting and marketing UCSI graduates, and for linking past and current graduates with potential employers and with each other.

Group President and Vice Chancellor, Peter Ng’s speech further reinforced MOHE’s and the government’s stance with regard to education, training and human capital. He explained that the myProfile Web Portal will enable students to easily access, up-grade and promote their curriculum vitae. Their profile which consist of their personal details, skills and ability, academic achievements and work experience can now be viewed online by potential employers from anywhere around the world.

As for the eAlumni, graduates are now able to maintain their contact with UCSI, friends and other members to enhance their networking with each other. Graduates gain advantage from the postgraduate and part-time study opportunities at UCSI through the eAlumni.

Both the myProfile and eAlumni participants will also benefit in terms of employment opportunities through UCSI’s Co-Operative (Co-Op) Employer Network.

The event was attended by many Co-Op employers, who UCSI clearly acknowledge for their contribution to the success of the training programme. Alumni members, the university board and VIPs, UCSI staff and students were also present at the event.
