LSA Organises Industrial Visit to Jungheinrich Lift Truck Malaysia Sdn Bhd


On 25th February 2019, the Logistics Student Association (LSA) of UCSI University got the opportunity to conduct an industrial visit to the warehouse of Jungheinrich Lift Truck Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

Jungheinrich Lift Truck Malaysia operates an extensive logistics network around Malaysia and its real competitive strength lies in its people. Jungheinrich Lift Truck Malaysia provides reliable, intelligent and cost-efficient freight forwarding services to meet the needs of the customer’s evolving business.

Dr Friedrich Jungheinrich laid the cornerstone of the company with the founding of H. Jungheinrich and Co. Maschinenfabrik in Hamburg on 7 August 1953.

What started out as a small workshop with thirty employees in the district of Barmbek developed over the succeeding decades into a company that boasts annual revenue in excess of two billion euros (2013). This makes them one of the top three firms in the world for industrial truck engineering and warehouse and material flow technology.

Students benefited from this industrial visit by understanding more about Jungheinrich Lift Truck Malaysia in terms of their organisational behaviour and practices. Students also learned skills to manage warehouses with proper, safe material handling, practices to enable safe working environment which ensure the safety of the materials, workers and warehouse.

They learnt about effective and efficient flow of operations in warehouses and how risks can be minimised directly. For example, students involved in industrial visits are required to wear safety workwear such as a safety vest, head cap and safety shoes.

The students also gained knowledge on products such as forklifts and shelfs and also their one solution logistics. After that, there was a demonstration of the safety monitor system.

This visit was successful, informative, and enlightened the students’ understanding on warehouse engagement, impact and academic outcomes and applications in the corporate world which are relevant to the Logistics and Supply Chain Operation fields.

Hence, participants were able to increase their understanding and knowledge relevant to their studies at UCSI University.
