VISIT TO RUMAH SAYANGAN

The Counselling Club of UCSI (University College Sedaya International) recently visited Rumah Sayangan in Taman Billion, Cheras as part of their outreach to some 20 children primary school pupils.
Its President, Justin Saw, said the Club also managed to raise some money for the home. "We are also looking into providing them with free tuition," he said.

Some of orphans told their guests that they dream of studying abroad when they eventually grow up and one of them even said that he was hopeful of being accepted to Sekolah Menengah Teknik because his ambition was to be a Mechanical Engineer.

This visit was an eye-opener to some of the UCSI students. "We have enjoyed ourselves very much. Most of us went to the orphanage with the intention to bring some peace and joy to share with the children," added Saw. "I am glad with the funds raised, we were able to give the orphanage a big treat on Kentucky Fried Chicken and Dominos Pizza."

According to Simon Teng, Student Development Counsellor, the UCSI counseling club had put a lot of effort to raise fund for the orphanage two weeks prior to the visit through jumbo sales and sale of food, drinks and soft-toys.

"The orphanage home is still looking for tutors to help the children who are academically weak," he said. "They may contact Rumah Sayangan directly (Ms Looi) at 03-91314339 or 03-91303687."

UCSI Counselling Club is a students club, whose members are trained to provide counseling to their peers.
