Testimonial

At the helm of UCSI University’s postgraduate community and programmes is the Office of Postgraduate Studies – an office that acts as a liaison between the faculties and postgraduate learners. The Office is entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating, promoting and managing all activities – pertaining to postgraduate learning – and supports this community in their pursuit of academic excellence.

UCSI University’s Praxis approach allows learners to apply what they learn on a daily basis through in-house business entities under the UCSI Group and we are proud to be part of this initiative. In line with this approach, the Office of Postgraduate Studies ensures that learners are able to exchange valuable insight with industry experts through exclusive workshops, enabling them to keep abreast of industry developments.

From a research perspective, our postgraduate community frequently joins efforts with the University’s Centre of Excellence for Research, Value Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CERVIE) on various research projects. And nothing is more rewarding than seeing our graduates make their own mark in the world, wherever they may be.

Facilities

The Office of Postgraduate Studies has various state-of-the-art facilities such as a conference room with a 42-inch TV screen projection, a Focus Group discussion room, wireless Internet connection, and a Group Study area. Postgraduate students from all faculties are welcome to utilise these facilities on weekdays from 8.30am to 6.30pm, and by appointment on Saturdays from 9.00am to 5.00pm.

  • Postgraduate Lounge

    Postgraduate Lounge

An enclosed yet visible space built to encourage collaborative and social learning activities amongst students.

  • Phytochemistry Laboratory

    Phytochemistry laboratory

The Phytochemistry Laboratory house various instruments used to find, isolate, and identify novel natural products with medicinal value. Our research team collect plant samples from various localities for chemical analysis and bioactivity studies to new sources of beneficial plant compounds

  • Molecular Biotechnology Research Laboratory

The facilities available at our Molecular Biology Laboratory allows for the study of biology at the molecular levels. Our research team regularly conducts a wide range of basic and applied research activities including gene based, protein based and molecular based studies.

  • Material Science & Petrology Soil Mechanics Lab

    Light Structure and Hydraulics Laboratory

The Light Structure and Hydraulics Laboratory is equipped with high-end facilities that can enhance the students’ understanding on theoretical aspects learned in subject matters related to Theory of Structures, Hydraulics and Hydrology. Some of the featured equipment in this laboratory that are essential in equipping the practical and hands on skills of students include the open channel, portal frame and parabolic arc, moment distribution apparatus, cantilever beam, etc.

  • Instrumentation Lab

    Instrumentation Laboratory

This laboratory has state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation equipment not only for teaching and learning process, but also research and development in expanding the boundary of scientific knowledge. Examples of modern equipment installed in the laboratory comprise atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), UV-VIS spectroscopy, nano zetasizer, 3D printer, titrator and tensiometer.

  • Petrochemical Lab

    Petrochemical Laboratory

This lab has all the excellent equipment for analysis and characterisation of solid, liquid, and gaseous substances, which are widely utilised by our researchers to conduct various testing and high impact experiments in the areas of air and water pollution. The equipment available spans across viscometer bath, flashpoint tester, seta oil test centrifuge, rotary evaporator, colorimeter, jar test, and turbidity meter.

  • Industrial Chemistry Lab

    Industrial Chemistry Laboratory

This lab has been equipped with an abundance of scientific instruments for both teaching and research, particularly in Chemical Engineering. Some of the equipment include a water bath, oven, furnace, and magnetic hotplate stirrers. The equipment will gear the students to master the state-of-the-art industrial chemical processes including synthesis, analysis, evaluation, and optimisation of complicated chemical operations. Moreover, the lab provides a solid ground for various potential collaborations between academic and industry, especially in the research and development of emerging physical-chemical substances.

  • Drilling and Material Science Lab

    Drilling and Material Science Laboratory

The laboratory is professionally designed to provide students with ample exposure to both macroscopic and microscopic analysis. It has been well equipped with filter press, mixer, viscometer, grinder, polisher, hardness tester, and emulsion stability meter. Students who are taking Drilling Engineering and Material Engineering courses will be involved in experimental work in this lab. This is one of the most popular laboratories among our top researchers in producing high impact articles.

  • Pharmacy Postgraduate Lab

A dedicated Pharmacy Postgraduate Lab was launched in 2011 to facilitate cutting-edge research. The lab is equipped with advanced facilities like high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and UV-Visible spectrometer, among others.

  • Make Lab

    Make Lab

This two-storey lab is equipped with the fundamental tools and machinery for architecture and interior architecture students to build scale models, piece together furniture and learn woodworking.
