The STEM Health Fiesta at SMK Convent Jalan Peel


The STEM Health Fiesta was hosted by SMK Convent Jalan Peel, Kuala Lumpur, the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering at UCSI University and also the IEEE RAS Malaysia Chapter.

The main objective of this event was to showcase some of the advanced engineering projects by UCSI engineering staff and students from various engineering departments to the school students across Malaysia.

This was done to motivate the students to become future engineers and also to show them how Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) can play a part in their education. There were more than 10 different projects displayed for the students to view.

Some of the projects were the Flying and Walking Drone, 3D Printer and Manual and Automatic Plastic Recycling Machine by the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering.

More than 200 students from different schools visited the booths and increased their knowledge in the field. The working models of the projects were demonstrated in front of the students. Students showed keen interest in the project design and applications.

Dr M.K.A. Ahamed Khan, Dr Lim, Chuah and Fauzi took the lead role in explaining the projects.

The event ended with a closing speech by the principal of the school. A certificate of appreciation was given to UCSI University’s Faculty of Engineering, Technology and built Environment by the principal for their support and contribution.
