TRIBUTES AND A GRAND SEND OFF

Kuala Lumpur, 28 September 2010 - Cars and buses lined the road and scores of wreaths thronged the Ng residence in Linggi as relatives, friends, students, staff and business associates came from afar to pay their respects to the family of the late Mr. Ng Choong Look, beloved father of UCSI’s Founder and Group Chairman Dato Peter Ng. Mr. Ng passed away Thursday, 23 Sept. at the ripe age of 81.

Although most who attended the funeral wake had not personally known Mr. Ng, or “Uncle Ng” as he was fondly referred to, everyone soon learned the type of person he was – a generous, kind and faithful patriarch and a man with a big heart. In addition to the hundreds of e-mails and SMS text messages sent, Mr. Ng’s passing was acknowledged and languished by scholars and leaders from around the world, a tribute to the legacy he has left behind. His children and grandchildren continue to espouse the same virtues that he had: self-discipline, perseverance, generosity, kindness and great faith in the Almighty and humanity. Through his teaching they have become successful in life and their successes have impacted others in the communities they serve.

Among the dignitaries who attended the three-day funeral wake and services were Professor W. Chan Kim, European Union Head Advisor and Country Advisor to Malaysia and author of the Blue Ocean Strategy, Chancellor of UCSI University Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Abdul Rahman Arshad, Chairman of the UCSI Foundation Dato (Dr.) Haji Karim bin Haji Abdullah Omar, Tan Sri Dato' Seri (Dr.) Musa Mohamad, Chairman of the University Council and Dr. Robert Bong, Vice Chancellor of UCSI University. Messages of condolence and wreaths were also received from the Prime Minister of Malaysia YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, former Prime Minister YABhg Tun Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi and Presidential Advisor to the President of the United States Professor Renée Mauborgne. Condolences and wreaths were also sent from Professor W. Chan Kim and the Kim family from Korea, several other luminaries and many friends and associates.

Additionally, all offices at the UCSI Group including UCSI University and Sekolah Sri Sedaya were closed on Monday, 27 Sept. as a mark of respect. Students and staff continue to pen their thoughts in the book of condolences located at the Group’s offices at the university and its branch offices. Mr. Ng Choong Look may be gone, but his legacy continues...
