UCSI’S FIRST MODELLING GRADUATES TAKE TO THE RUNWAY

KUALA LUMPUR – 19 June 2007 (Sunday) – UCSI held its first Modelling Graduation Show at the Mines Shopping Fair in grand style on 19 June 2007.

The show kicked-off with a choreographed dance by the students, followed by a dance by the group “Black Rose”. This was preceded by a fashion show that saw students parading 3 sets of costumes from casual outfits to glittering evening wear.

During his speech, UCSI’s Vice-Chancellor and President, Peter T. S. Ng said, “As today is Father’s Day, I feel like a very proud father watching our first batch of students graduating from this course”. He spoke words of encouragement to the new graduates and said he was certain that despite the short length of the course, the students were able to build-up their confidence and learn the practical aspects of the fashion business.

The 10 students received their certificates from Vice-Chancellor and President, Peter Ng and Ms. Vilashiiney Panneerselvam or Ash was selected as Best Student by the tutors of this course.

Ash said, “I enjoyed taking this course as it helped build-up my self-confidence. I was quite shy before, but now I am able to walk on a runway and face a large audience.”

According to Linda Hurley, Head of the Department of Fashion, “The course aims to educate our students to be aware of the pitfalls and exploitations that can be prevalent in the world of modelling and promotions,” she said. “We hope we have inspired them to become true ambassadors of their profession.
