UCSI engineering students introduced to Arduino hardware through an interactive workshop

It was an insightful experience for a group of 26 engineering students who attended an Arduino and Programming workshop held early February at the UCSI University Kuala Lumpur campus.

In a full day event, the workshop began with a speech from Dr John Tan, the Head of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Department. In his speech, he stated that the workshop was held to ‘’ introduce Arduino hardware and share new programming knowledge to students especially to electrical & electronic engineering students.

‘’Students will learn to understand what an Arduino is and how it works, learn programming concepts using C and C++ along with Arduino specific programming and use a wide variety of hardware and components for projects prototyping using breadboard’’, he added.

Students then worked on activities that explore the Arduino hardware. They indulged in solving problems in troubleshooting circuits, learned how to perform coding with the hardware and attempted to build their very own blue-tooth communication device.

The Arduino and Programming workshop is a collaborative effort between UCSI IET and Gieption Sdn.Bhd and received a positive feedback from the participants.

One of the participants mentioned that ‘’the workshop was particularly fun and beneficial as we were able to learn programming and build our own innovative project with Arduino. We look forward to attending more of similar IET On Campus workshop to enhance our student learning experience at UCSI University’’.
