UCSI raises funds for animals at SSPCA

KUCHING: UCSI University’s Sarawak Campus recently organised a charity event on March 22, 2014, to raise funds to support animals at the Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA).

Notably, the event also aimed to not only promote greater awareness on animal cruelty among the participants and surrounding communities but to also provide a platform for members of the public to participate in recreational activities.

Themed, ‘UCSI Charity Mini Food and Fun Fair 2014’, the event was held on campus grounds and was the first time students – from UCSI’s Event and Tourism Management and Hospitality Management degree programmes – spearheaded such a project.

The event was part of their Events Project Management and Event Operations Management courses and provided them with opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge to a real-life event.

SSPCA’s mission is to act as an advocate on behalf of animals and as an enforcer of their rights, which includes ensuring the well-being of animals that have been abandoned, injured or subjected to any form of unfair or cruel treatment in Sarawak. In support of such a powerful statement, the management of UCSI Sarawak Campus extends special thanks to SSPCA for their strong commitment to their cause and hope that the proceeds from the event will help them go further.

Many companies – including HINO Motors, UCOMMS, Golden Screen Cinema, Star Cineplex, Kuching Park Hotel, Merdeka Palace, Borneo Lodge, Riverside Majestic, Hilton Hotel, Grand Magherita, WuCha, U-Cha, Honey Fresh Fruits, Maxis Berhad and Gim Burger, among others – showed their support for the project.

Enrolment for May and September intakes is now in progress. For more information on programmes offered by UCSI University Sarawak Campus, please call us at +6082 – 455 255 or visit us at www.ucsiuniversity.edu.my.
