UCSI Sends Engineering Students Abroad, Welcomes Students From France


UCSI University has followed through with its track record in producing students set apart for research attachments by world-class universities. Four students from the Faculty of Engineering, Technology and Built Environment have secured places in leading universities around the world starting September 2018. 

Khaw Liang Fa from the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Chemical Engineering programme will be attached with Imperial College London under the tutelage of Professor Jerry Heng from 3rd September 2018 – 9thDecember 2018. Home to the highest concentration of high-impact research in any major UK university, this attachment in ICL will provide high exposure on learning experiences that will be beneficial and invaluable.

Looking east, Jong Cha Yong, also from the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Chemical Engineering programme will be attached with Tsinghua University under Professor Yang from 28th September 2018 – 30th December 2018. Tsinghua is one of the most prestigious universities in China for teaching, research and innovation.

Selected by The University of Queensland, Muhammad Hafidz Khairudin and Wong Jun Ying from the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme will be under the supervision of Professor Tapan Kumar Saha for one month in September 2018.

Electrical Engineering is a well-known and reputable programme in The University of Queensland with the overall ranking for Engineering and Technology as 6th in Australia. This attachment encourages joint research publication between UCSI University and University of Queensland.

Undoubtedly, this batch of students will have the opportunity to spread their wings and get a global perspective in their field of studies. UCSI University has on-going collaborations with numerous top universities in the world and many more are in the pipeline.

On another note, four Nantes University students from France are currently attached with UCSI University for three months (June - August 2018). They are Hugo Marais, Sarni Burillon, Maximilien Lefever and Corentin Laudrin. This attachment enables the students to attend guest lectures and industry site visits where they experience student life at UCSI University as well as engage in projects with UCSI staff.

Polytech Nantes was the first polytechnic engineering university in France, and was accredited by the Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur (CTI). One of the missions of Polytech Nantes is to train engineers with a high level of scientific understanding. The school was created in January 2000 and has 1,000 engineering students.
