UCSI STUDENTS GET RECOGNITION IN ORACLE CERTIFICATE PRESENTATION CEREMONY


KUALA LUMPUR, Friday 17 December 2004 - UCSI’s (University College Sedaya International) School Of Information Technology recently held its bi-annual Oracle Certificate Presentation Ceremony where 76 students received certificates from the Head of School of Information Technology, Miss Chaw Lee Yen. 
In addition to this, a special Oracle gift jacket was given to the top student by the Education Director of Oracle Corporation (M) Sdn Bhd, Leonard Sie. UCSI represents one of the few University Colleges that have partnerships with Oracle and have incorporated the Oracle module into its database syllabus.Top student for Advanced Database module, Teh Chek Hooi, felt more confident now with the Oracle certificate. “I am proud and happy to receive this certificate. It is much easier for me when I look for a job especially in the database field,” he said.

Another top student, Teresa Khow Seoh Seoh, who had highest score in the Database Design module said it took her a lot of efforts to understand the concept of Database Design. “I feel great receiving this certificate! It gives me motivation to perform even better in the future,” she said.

According to UCSI’s Computing For Business graduate Leong Yau Hong, the Oracle certificate together with his UCSI Computing degree helped him secure his first job where the company used Oracle software for program writing. 
Leong, who obtained Second Class Upper Honors in the Computing For Business programme at UCSI, said that he was tested on his knowledge in Oracle during the interview. He attributed his success in getting through the test to up-to-date knowledge and skills from acquired through his education at UCSI. 

“UCSI is the right place to earn a computing degree; one of the special features is that it provides advanced skills such as Oracle 9i and VB.net which greatly improves the value of its graduates. The Oracle certificate has added additional value to my UCSI computing degree!” said Leong, who was also invited to give a speech at the Oracle Certificate Presentation Ceremony to relate his experiences in getting his first job to his juniors.Leong Yau Hong is currently working in his second job as an IT programmer in a software house in Cheras Perdana and has approached his former IT lecturers at UCSI to thank them for their support as well as the extra time they were willing to spend with him apart from lectures. 
Other than Oracle, UCSI also has partnerships with world-class companies such as Microsoft and IBM.
