UCSI Charity Fair for Sarawak Heart Foundation 2015 was held on March 28 (Saturday) at the Transformation Centre Berhad, Kuching. This charity event was organised by UCSI University’s (UCSI) students from its degree programmes in Hospitality Management, Event and Tourism Management and Commerce. 

The event attracted roughly 500 visitors from all walks of life. Highlights from that day includes solo and choir singing performances, games stations, lucky draw session as well as free health screening tests conducted by Sarawak Heart Foundation (SHF). Counselling sessions on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle was also available for the public. 

As a non-governmental organization (NGO), SHF aims to educate the public on the various methods of preventing heart related diseases through campaigns. They also provide financial assistances to less fortunate and needy patients with heart difficulties for treatments and operations, as well as purchase and donate specialised medical equipment to hospitals. 

The event also emphasises the importance of community service among UCSI students while improving their soft skills. The skills such as event management, budgeting, and communicating with stakeholders will go a long way in giving students the edge they need upon graduating. 

The charity event received supports from the local communities and the public as well as generous sponsorship from Data Printing Centre, Hino Motors, Merdeka Palace Hotel and Suites, and Lime Tree Hotel. Boulevard and E-mart Batu Kawa sponsored their venue for booth promotion. 

UCSI University Sarawak Campus offers degree programmes in Commerce, Event and Tourism Management as well as Hospitality Management and diploma programmes including those in the fields of Hotel Management, Culinary Arts and Leisure Management. The Centre for Pre-U Studies offers Foundations in both Science and Arts.
