UCSI University Sarawak Campus GCE A-Levels Programme

Kuching, 10 February 2012 - With 10 years of experience in conducting the Edexcel GCE A-Levels programme, UCSI University Sarawak Campus has consistently remained as the leading GCE A-Level provider in Sarawak. Over the past 10 years, the University has produced hundreds of alumni pursuing degree programmes locally as well as at universities all over the world and most of them have completed their studies and are now rendering their service as professionals such as doctors, engineers and pharmacists.

Instructors hold important roles in inspiring and influencing students' achievements. The A-Levels instructors of UCSI University Sarawak Campus believe in long term learning and development of skills such as communication, collaboration and coordination.

Most of the instructors at UCSI University are resourceful and experienced in lecturing as some of them have years of teaching and learning training prior to teaching GCE A-Levels.

Madam Mukvinder Sandhu, the Head of the Centre of Pre-U Studies at UCSI University Sarawak Campus, with experience in lecturing for more than nine years is also currently involved in various research projects along with her fellow colleagues. She is currently conducting a research which is closely related to her teaching area which is ‘Environmental Chemistry.'

In fact, this is the culture adopted by all staff at the Centre for Pre-U Studies as they all believe in continually updating their knowledge on current issues which they share directly with their students. Most of the other lecturers are also very experienced, as some of them have more than five years of experience in lecturing. The academic staff also attend workshops organized by Edexcel as well as participate in different online forums and use various innovative teaching methods to deliver their subject areas.

Indeed, one unique aspect at the Centre for Pre-U Studies is the personalized attention that students get. Besides the dedication to their students, the instructors also practice close interaction with them by conducting group discussions and vigorous training on past year questions before the exams. Students can seek for guidance without fear of the unknown through these discussions. Full of passion in guiding the students, the instructors are always ready to conduct extra classes whenever it is necessary and share their knowledge with the students.

Improvement classes are conducted regularly, on a one-to-one basis to assist students who may struggle with certain areas of the subject matter. During these sessions, instructors focus on the areas students are having difficulties and extra coaching will be given to them.

All these are evident in the excellent track record obtained by UCSI University Sarawak Campus that has always maintained a very high passing rate every year with a high percentage of students scoring straight As in their GCE A-Levels examinations.

UCSI University Sarawak Campus houses the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management and the Centre for Pre-U Studies besides the University's Kuala Lumpur Campus. This campus provides niche academic programmes to sharpen its student management skills and teamwork as well as train them in the area of hospitality and tourism. The Centre for Pre-U Studies, providing the GCE A-Levels and foundation programmes serves as a pathway towards degree programmes in UCSI University Campuses within Malaysia and its education partners overseas.
