UCSI University signs MoU with Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU), Vietnam

KUALA LUMPUR: Concern for the individual and national need for education and training saw UCSI University (UCSI) and Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU), Vietnam, sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that outlines the sharing of educational opportunities for specific programmes identified, among others.

The MoU was signed by Senior Professor Dato’ Dr Khalid Yusoff, Vice-Chancellor and President of UCSI and Dr Ta Xuan Ee, CEO of NTTU, who led a delegation of 16 academics to UCSI.

Pointing out that mobility is important for the new generation, Dato’ Dr Khalid shared that UCSI’s focus on obtaining accreditation and recognition from international bodies will benefit the students of both parties.

This was something that NTTU looks forward to, according to Professor Vuong Thanh Son, NTTU Vice-President.

“It would help strengthen the name of both universities besides giving UCSI the opportunity to expand their international students reach and international programmes,” he said.

He also pointed out that UCSI’s praxis® approach that focuses on hands on learning and industry relevance is something that is of great interest to NTTU.

“NTTU has chosen to collaborate with UCSI due to its emphasis on applicable education and success in graduate employability,” he said. For the latter, he referred to a recent tracer study by the Malaysian Ministry of Education which ranked UCSI second amongst leading private universities in Malaysia in terms of graduate employability.

The collaboration includes the provision of academic and curriculum guidance, professional developments by UCSI, joint research activities, and the exchange of staff. Both universities are also looking into cooperating for training programmes in the areas of business and information technology at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
