STUDIES ON THE STORAGE STABILITY OF BETACYANINS FROM FERMENTED RED DRAGON FRUIT (HYLOCEREUS POLYRHIZUS) DRINK IMPARTED BY XANTHAN GUM AND CARBOXYMETHYL CELLULOSE

Congratulations to Associate Professor Dr Ivan Ho Chun Wai for the recent publication entitled 'Studies on the storage stability of betacyanins from fermented red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) drink imparted by xanthan gum and carboxymethyl cellulose' in the Food Chemistry journal (Impact Factor 2022 = 9.231, Q1 Tier 1) ranking it at 8 out of 143 in Food Science & Technology.

MSMBB BEST SCIENTIST AWARD 2022

Congratulations to Associate Professor Dr Crystale Lim Siew Ying for winning the MSMBB Best Scientist Award 2022 (Young Scientist Category) organised by the Malaysian Society for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (MSMBB). MSMBB established the Best Scientist Awards in 2021 to recognise outstanding scientists who have made significant contributions to molecular biology and biotechnology.

Congratulations to Professor Dr Nyam Kar Lin for her recent publication entitled "Hibiscus cannabinus L. leaf and seed in cosmetic formulation: An integrated approach as antioxidant and melanogenesis inhibitor"  (Tier 1 Journal in Energy & Fuels, Impact Factor of 7.053). 

WINNERS FOR THE MALAYSIAN SOCIETY FOR MOLECULAR BIOLOGY AND BIOTECHNOLOGY (MSMBB) EDUSTEMX GRANT 2022

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Dr Tan Choon Hui for being selected as one of the winners for the Malaysian Society for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (MSMBB) EduSTEMX Grant 2022. The title of her proposal is "Food Science (STEM) to combat Climate Change and World Hunger".

THE EFFECTS OF INSECT MEAL SUBSTITUTION ON THE PHYSIOLOGICAL PERFORMANCES OF PACIFIC WHITE SHRIMP (LITOPENAEUS VANNAMEI)

for receiving the WWF – Conservation Partnership Scheme Grant worth RM60,000 for the research project entitled, “The effects of insect meal substitution on the physiological performances of pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei)” on 30 November 2021.

SIMPLE DIY MODEL SERIES FOR DNA FINGERPRINTING

for winning the Year 2021 MTSF Science Education Award (Runner-Up Prize) awarded by Malaysia Toray Science Foundation in recognition of their innovative and effective teaching methods in science education.

The winning project, entitled “Simple DIY Model Series for DNA Fingerprinting,” was developed to introduce DNA Fingerprinting to pre-university students in a fun and interactive approach.

THE WORLD’S TOP 2% SCIENTISTS

Named in the “2020 Single Year World’s Top 2% Scientists” in the exercise that was released on October 20, Professor Dr Phang was named in the category of marine biology and hydrobiology and under the subfield of biotechnology; Associate Professor Dr Eric was listed for his research in the category of pharmacology and pharmacy and under the subfield of food science.

WOMEN EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2021

For receiving the Women Excellence Awards 2021 at the 4^th International Conference on Food and Nutrition held on 23 and 24 September 2021. The two-day conference served as a platform to invoke and debate cogent ideas related to the insights and advancements of immunity, nutrition and Covid-19.

MEAL CLOCK: MATERNAL CHRONONUTRITION DURING PREGNANCY IS ASSOCIATED WITH BIRTH OUTCOMES

For winning first place for the Poster Free Paper Presentation at the 2^nd National Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Scientific Conference 2021, on 4 to 5 August 2021. The title of her research presentation was “Meal Clock: Maternal Chrononutrition During Pregnancy is Associated with Birth Outcomes”.
