Congratulations to Associate Professor Dr Ivan Ho Chun Wai for the recent publication entitled 'Studies on the storage stability of betacyanins from fermented red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) drink imparted by xanthan gum and carboxymethyl cellulose' in the Food Chemistry journal (Impact Factor 2022 = 9.231, Q1 Tier 1) ranking it at 8 out of 143 in Food Science & Technology.

Congratulations to Associate Professor Dr Crystale Lim Siew Ying for winning the MSMBB Best Scientist Award 2022 (Young Scientist Category) organised by the Malaysian Society for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (MSMBB). MSMBB established the Best Scientist Awards in 2021 to recognise outstanding scientists who have made significant contributions to molecular biology and biotechnology.

SIMPLE DIY MODEL SERIES FOR DNA FINGERPRINTING

for winning the Year 2021 MTSF Science Education Award (Runner-Up Prize) awarded by Malaysia Toray Science Foundation in recognition of their innovative and effective teaching methods in science education.

The winning project, entitled “Simple DIY Model Series for DNA Fingerprinting,” was developed to introduce DNA Fingerprinting to pre-university students in a fun and interactive approach.


THE WORLD’S TOP 2% SCIENTISTS

SENIOR PROFESSOR DR PHANG SIEW MOI AND ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR DR ERIC CHAN WEI CHIANG |  Faculty of Applied Sciences

Named in the “2020 Single Year World’s Top 2% Scientists” in the exercise that was released on October 20, Professor Dr Phang was named in the category of marine biology and hydrobiology and under the subfield of biotechnology; Associate Professor Dr Eric was listed for his research in the category of pharmacology and pharmacy and under the subfield of food science.
