Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham inaugurated the Wellbeing Research Centre in conjunction with World Mental Health Day. This momentous occasion was graced by the presence of YBhg Prof Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah binti Tapsir, UCSI Group CEO and Vice-chancellor, and YBhg Prof Datuk Dr Rohana binti Yusof, Deputy Vice-chancellor, Academic and Internationalisation of UCSI University.
The Wellbeing Research Centre marks a milestone for UCSI as it is one of the first few such centres available in Malaysia. The centre aims to be a prominent research institution in the Malaysian higher education landscape with the goal of promoting holistic mental health and well-being through innovative research initiatives in collaboration with local and international partners.
On October 10, 2023, UCSI University held a transformative event in honour of World Mental Health Day. From 10 am to 1 pm, experts from diverse disciplines collaborated to champion holistic positive mental health and wellbeing through pioneering research and innovation.
The highlight of the event was a series of six enlightening Power Talks. Distinguished experts addressed crucial topics, including wellbeing, mental health, and happiness, offering invaluable insights into leading a fulfilling and joyful life.
UCSI University welcomed over a thousand students from 26 schools for their SPM motivational camp and workshop on 7 October 2023. Prof Datuk Ir Ts Dr Siti Hamisah, UCSI University’s Vice-Chancellor and Cikgu Tan CL, an experienced Bahasa Melayu teacher, were the prominent speakers who shared beneficial tips and techniques with all SPM 2023 candidates.
On October 5, 2023, UCSI University received a warm visit from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Led by Mr Rashad Alshaikh, Head of Mission and Charge' D'Affaires, this diplomatic engagement aimed to:
1. Strengthen ties between UCSI and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
2. Explore collaborative opportunities in education, culture, and diplomacy.
Our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Ir Ts Dr Siti Hamisah Binti Tapsir, presided over this significant visit, fostering discussions that can pave the way for future cooperation.
This visit marks a positive step in building mutual understanding and cooperation between UCSI University and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah assumed his role as the Healthcare Group chairman at UCSI on October 4th. In addition to this leadership position, he will also take on the role of a visiting consultant surgeon specialising in breast, endocrine, and general surgery at UCSI Hospital. Furthermore, he will serve as an adjunct professor at UCSI University, where he will actively contribute to clinical training programs and engage in medical research initiatives.
During his introduction to UCSI Hospital, Dr. Noor Hisham was warmly welcomed by UCSI Group founder and executive chairman, Dato’ Peter Ng, as well as UCSI Group CEO, Prof Datuk Dr. Siti Hamisah Tapsir.
Dr. Noor Hisham brings with him an impressive 35-year career in public service, having previously served as the Director General of Health Malaysia for a decade.
Tan Sri Zakri, our distinguished professor and founding director of the International Institute for Science Diplomacy and Sustainability (IISDS), recently hosted an enlightening institutional lecture on October 5th. This momentous occasion was graced by the presence of Dr Salvator Arico, the CEO of the International Science Council in Paris, France.
Dr Salvator Arico boasts an impressive professional journey, spanning over three decades, which includes serving as the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Scientific Advisory Board. He has authored over 90 publications on biodiversity, the ocean, global change as well as science and technology. His wealth of knowledge promises to be an invaluable resource for all those who learnt from him.
The focal point of this captivating in-person lecture revolved around the subject of “Science Diplomacy: Advancing Global Governance of Marine and Oceanic Ecosystems.”
UCSI’s culinary competition successfully showcased talented young chefs among the Central Region schools in KL and Selangor. A total of 17 schools with 54 shortlisted participants participated in this Grand Finale competition. Congratulations to the winners and all aspiring chefs!
UCSI Cares, a prominent charitable organization dedicated to making a positive impact on society, is thrilled to announce its upcoming Mooncake Festival celebration in collaboration with the Tong Sim Senior Citizens Care Centre. This heartfelt event is scheduled for September 23, 2023, from 10 am to 2 pm, at the care center's premises.
The Mooncake Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is a cherished tradition in Asian culture, symbolizing unity and togetherness. UCSI Cares, with unwavering support from several esteemed organizations and generous individuals, is proud to bring this celebration to the elderly residents of Tong Sim Senior Citizens Care Centre.
This student-led event involved active engagement from student leaders of the School of Optometry Student Association (SOOSA) and with the participation of all Optometry students.
The event invited Prof Dr Chen Ai Hong from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) to share her valuable knowledge and assessment tips in her keynote lecture entitled “Clinical Pearls in Prescribing for Paediatric Population”. Another keynote speaker, Prof Niall Strang from Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), UK also shared a keynote lecture on “Incomitant Deviations”.
UCSI University and Health Lane Family Pharmacy have signed MoA to collaborate on academic and professional development initiatives. The MoA aims to provide students with various opportunities to enhance their learning experience and career prospects through attachments and visitations.
