On June 16, UCSI students and staff joined a Design Thinking and Prototyping Workshop in collaboration with Prudential Singapore. They learned about design-to-delivery approach as well as gained valuable insights from the industry experts from all around the globe. UCSI is the key partner of a global Prudential Young Innovators (PYI) competition offering attractive cash prizes and scholarships.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UCSI University and the International Educational Scientific Cultural Organization Berhad (IESCO) on 1 June signifies a collaborative effort to enhance student recruitment from the Middle East. By offering sponsorship to talented students, IESCO aims to support and empower individuals from the Middle East to pursue their educational aspirations at UCSI University.
Four respected religious leaders and practitioners gathered at UCSI University for an engaging forum, initiated by Professor Dr Mohd Tajuddin Rasdi. There have been many services and contributions made by various religious bodies, benefitting countless needy people from all walks of life regardless of their ethnicity, faith and race. These were shared by En Sahrolnizam B.Md Saari(Islam), Reverend Dr Hermen Shastri(Christianity), Ms Andal Krishnan(Hinduism) and Dr Ooi Hean Beng(Buddhism), and moderated by Mr Leong Sat Sing. We need to continue making Malaysia a model harmonious country of diverse and multi-ethnic communities.
Khairy Jamaluddin and Dr Ong Kian-Ming were part of the "Designing the Future" series on 25 May 2023 at Block G, UCSI University KL Campus, where they discussed on thought-provoking topics concerning the nation's economy, education, technology, healthcare and more! UCSI Group hosted His Excellency Ali Hussain Didi, Deputy High Commissioner along with his entourage for Eid Hi-Tea held on 9 May 2023 at The Hatton, Le Quadri Hotel. UCSI University's Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Deans, Directors, Maldivian students and staff were also present at the event, as it was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen our engagement and to foster a closer relationship between the High Commission and the UCSI Maldivian students. Our hospitality students were able to present the guests with their award-winning mocktail, "Mango Asam Boi" as well.
The much-anticipated Orientation Day for the Class of May 2023 at UCSI University was a vibrant and momentous occasion held on 27 April 2023. New students from different corners of the globe were warmly welcomed into their new academic abode, where they were introduced to the various aspects of campus life. The engaging activities of the orientation day included enlightening information-sharing sessions and delightful meet-and-greet events with the esteemed faculty and staff members, enabling the students to feel at ease and more connected to their new academic community.
SABE Gallery Curatorial Team organised the official opening of SABE Gallery and the viewing of "Sengkumi" - Graduate Exhibition by the students of Diploma in Architectural Studies and Interior Architecture at Block A, UCSI University on 18 April 2023.
The event was officiated by Dato' Peter Ng, UCSI Group Founder and Executive Chairman and Professor Datuk Ir Ts Dr Siti Hamisah, UCSI Group CEO and UCSI University Vice-Chancellor.
Held on 13 April 2023, the Research and Teaching Excellence Award 2022 Ceremony is to recognise and honour the outstanding contributions of UCSI researchers and lecturers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to their respective fields in the year 2022. A total of 15 Award categories were presented under the Teaching and Research Awards fields. The award ceremony was followed by the launching of the UCSI Press book, whereby the authors briefly present their book content.
UCSI hosted a breaking of fast event, “Majlis Berbuka Puasa” at the Dignity for Children Foundation. Gracing the event were The UCSI University's Pro-Chancellor, His Highness Tunku Zain Al-‘Abidin ibni Tuanku Muhriz and the Director of the Education Department, Federal Territory Education Department, Puan Hajah Norhayati Ab Wahab.
Dignity For Children Foundation is a non-governmental organisation that provides holistic care and education for underprivileged children in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They transformed the lives of thousands of children (from refugees and destitute/impoverished homes) who otherwise could not escape the cycle of poverty.
We hope and pray that the government will play a more significant role in supporting hundreds of similar alternative schools like Dignity.
Twenty-seven students and lecturers from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland visited UCSI University to share knowledge on sustainability and how it is being practised and advocated at UCSI.
Led by exploreASEAN for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), the theme of the talk is “Shaping the future with renewable energy and automation”. During the event, Mr Leong Sat Sing, Vice President of UCSI’s SDG Secretariat Office, introduced them to UCSI and Professor Dato’ Dr Ahmad Bin Ibrahim, FASc, an exco member of Tan Sri Omar Centre for STI Policy Studies - UCSI University, shared on the need for SDGs to avert climate change. In addition, UCSI’s Chief Information Officer, James Thang, shared technologies' usage and function for campus operations and administrations. Assistant Professor Alex Teng, from the Centre of Excellence for Research, Value Innovation and Entrepreneurship, spoke about the Low Carbon Innovation Hub and how to reduce carbon footprints.
