UCSI celebrates nine esteemed professors for their inclusion in Stanford's World's Top 2% Scientists list, a notable 50% increase from last year's six. Congratulations to Distinguished Profs Dr Phang Siew Moi and Dr Ooi Keng Boon, Senior Prof Dr Garry Tan Wei Han, Profs Dr Richard Peter Bailey and Dato’ Dr Ng Seik Weng, and Assoc Profs Dr Mehrbakhsh Nilashi, Dr Eric Chan Wei Chiang, Dr Eugene Aw Cheng Xi and Dr Shayla Islam for this remarkable achievement. We would also like to offer a heartfelt congratulations to all recipients of the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS). The event was honoured by the presence of UCSI Vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir and UCSI Group executive chairman Dato’ Peter Ng.
In conjunction with the Celebration, the Harmoni-Mesra Kolam Design Competition was organised, and participated by a few faculties and departments. Staff of various races were involved in the designing and decorating of the Kolam, and complemented with well-wishes and remarks for the occasion. The top 3 winners went to Student Enrolment Centre, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Visa Processing Unit, in that order.
UCSI University's Deepavali Bazaar, held on November 6th and 7th at KL Campus Block G was a vibrant celebration organised by Group Human Resources (GHR). Staff and external vendors offered an array of delights - from food, drinks, desserts, clothing, and accessories to services like nail art and henna design. The event provided a platform for UCSI staff to immerse themselves in Indian culture, fostering unity and cultural appreciation.
The recent graduates of the Doctor of Medicine (M.D) programme marked the completion of their academic journey at the 4th session of the 36th Convocation Ceremony held at UCSI University Springhill Campus on 4 November 2023.
The 13th Global RCE Conference, hosted by RCE Greater Gombak and RCE Greater Kuala Lumpur in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, explored the 'Whole Community Approach for ESD.'Focused on sustainable development, the conference delved into transformative learning, global partnerships, capacity building, youth empowerment, and local actions, fostering collective efforts towards SDGs.
The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences held a team-building exercise to boost the morale and efficiency of its staff and faculty members. The exercise, which involved various activities and games, aimed to foster collaboration and communication among the participants. The exercise was facilitated by a professional trainer from the Consulting Unit of the university.

The Malaysia Optometry Students Sports Event (MOSSE) is a yearly competition held by Malaysian Optometry Schools that serves as a platform for students to demonstrate their athletic capabilities. MOSSE 2023 was held on October 14, 2023, at SEGI University and on October 15, 2023, at UCSI University. 180 participants from three universities, UCSI, SEGI, and UKM, attended the event. Seven sports competitions were organised during the two-day event. On Day 1, tug of war, badminton, table tennis, and futsal were held at SEGI University. On Day 2, dodgeball, basketball, and volleyball competitions were conducted at UCSI University. This event facilitated a bonding session between lecturers and students from three different universities. All the participants had the opportunity to network with people in the industry. Awards were given at the end of the event to those who excelled and contributed to the event committees and MOSSE.
Hosted By UCSI College, the Diskusi Perpaduan aimed at promoting unity and integration among the youth. The engaging discussion was presented by the Department of National Unity and Integration Kuala Lumpur and Sekretariat Rukun Negara (SRN) UCSI College Kuala Lumpur.
Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham inaugurated the Wellbeing Research Centre in conjunction with World Mental Health Day. This momentous occasion was graced by the presence of YBhg Prof Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah binti Tapsir, UCSI Group CEO and Vice-chancellor, and YBhg Prof Datuk Dr Rohana binti Yusof, Deputy Vice-chancellor, Academic and Internationalisation of UCSI University.
The Wellbeing Research Centre marks a milestone for UCSI as it is one of the first few such centres available in Malaysia. The centre aims to be a prominent research institution in the Malaysian higher education landscape with the goal of promoting holistic mental health and well-being through innovative research initiatives in collaboration with local and international partners.
