UCSI University welcomed our international and local partners for a series of conferences, interactive rapport-building activities, and a fun-filled appreciation dinner as part of the strategic initiatives to grow the UCSI Education Group and reach our 2025 goals together.
UCSI University welcomed President Kenshiro Matsunami and the esteemed delegation from Nippon Sport Science University, Japan to our Kuala Lumpur campus last weekend.
Both members of the universities discussed future collaborations to offer twinning programmes in sports science, which will potentially create a pathway for our students to seek employment in Japan.
YB Adam Adli, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Malaysia did a sharing of his personal journey and spoke on the theme of “Empowering Youth Through Leadership”. YB Adam Adli also officiated the launch of Youth Beyond Boundaries (YBB), a youth-led organisation run by scholars from UCSI University and UCSI College. Since its establishment in September 2015, YBB has provided multiple platforms for scholars to strive for their dreams, aiding the community welfare and empowering others to go beyond limitations to achieve their goals while simultaneously developing holistic leadership skills.
UCSI University is going transnational with the soft launch of its first international branch campus in Bangladesh. Named UCSI University Bangladesh, the new campus will be based in the capital city of Dhaka and operations will commence in May, this year. It is the first time UCSI is committing to a branch campus overseas. Higher Education Minister Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said that the launch dovetailed well with the Ministry’s internationalisation plans.
UCSI University hosted the MoU signing ceremony with “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage here at Kuala Lumpur Campus on 31st January 2023. The event was witnessed by Uzbekistan delegates led by His Excellency Ravshan Usmanov, Ambassador of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia. Through the MoU, the two universities look into increasing students’ mobility through exchange, organising international conferences and boosting edu-tourism for both countries. The two nations looked forward to the positive outcomes of cooperation beyond borders. On behalf of UCSI University, the Vice-Chancellor and UCSI Group’s CEO, Professor Datuk Ir Ts Dr Siti Hamisah binti Tapsir (FASc) gave the welcoming speech. Both Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic and Internationalisation as well as Research and Postgraduate were also present, among others from UCSI Senior Management. The Deputy Governor of Samarkand Region, Mr Rustam Kobilov and Professor Juliboy Eltazarov, the first Vice-Rector of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage were also among the attendees.
UCSI University's International Institute for Science Diplomacy and Sustainability (IISDS) held a hybrid sharing session on The Coral Triangle Initiative: A Regional Undertaking on Science Diplomacy on 16 January 2023. The special guest speaker, Dr Mohd Kushairi bin Mohd Rajuddin, Executive Director of the CTI-CFF Regional Secretariat, shared his views, experience, and thoughts on the abovementioned issues. The session was moderated by Tan Sri Dr Zakri Abdul Hamid, Distinguished Professor and Founding Director of IISDS, UCSI University.
On 13th and 14th January 2023, CERVIE (Centre of Excellence for Research, Value Innovation and Entrepreneurship) organised a High-Impact Publication Writing Workshop where UCSI Staff got together and learned more about the tips and tricks in creating high-quality publications.
On 7 January 2023, the UCSI Japanese Cultural Society(JCS) and Japanese exchange students from Asia University, Japan organised Japan x Malaysia Cultural Carnival at Hilltop, UCSI University. This is a non-profit event that aimed to introduce Japanese and Malaysian cultures to all participants by organising a carnival with various Japanese and Malaysian food, cultural games, traditional handcrafts, and performances. JCS and the Japanese exchange students also hosted a game booth to show the similarities and differences between the traditional games of both countries where participants were able to play and get attractive prizes. The main highlight was the cosplay competition themed, "Japan/Malaysia characters" where many visitors were dressed up in custom-made costumes.
On 29 December 2022, UCSI University embraced new students and their parents from all over the world on Orientation Session here at KL Campus. During Orientation, students of January 2023 Intake were given the opportunity to mingle among peers and get to know the Student Council as well as learn more about the University.
In May 2021, UCSI University and Insight Institute of Learning, Bangladesh signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to establish UCSI University’s first overseas branch campus. This is certainly a great milestone for both countries and will help the Bangladeshi community to increase their workforce demand in the global employment markets.
