Sharifah Maria Sahila or Chef Maria is currently a lecturer and Programme Coordinator for the Diploma programme at UCSI University. She holds a Master of Science in Hospitality Management (Restaurant Food Service), as well as a Diploma in Chef Training. On top of that, she holds a Diploma and Certificate under Malaysian Skills majoring in pastry and bakery. Her culinary expertise includes over 10 years of experience in the hotel industry and pastry production. After gaining experience working in a 5-star hotel in 2007, she became a Chef Lecturer with Legend International College of Hospitality and Tourism, Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan College, Kuala Lumpur (KLMU) and Berjaya University College of Hospitality, Kuala Lumpur. She has over 12 years of experience in teaching.

Currently Chef Maria is on the board for Kenwood Baking Expert Panel for Kenwood Appliances (S) Pte Ltd, Kenwood Appliances (M) Sdn Bhd. She is sharing her expertise in pastry and baking with the Kenwood community through online consultation.

Apart of teaching, Chef Maria is interested in creating new recipes or product development especially in healthy baking. She has developed few recipes such as Flourless Mixed Sprouted Bread, Healthy Pancake for Children and Post Natal. Other than that, she has produced two mocktail recipes for Mocktails 20 Must Try Drink published by UCSI, Bi-Colour Croissant and Blueberry Bread using USA Blueberry products.

Besides teaching, her commitment towards students’ skill development has helped students and the university to garner multiple awards at both national and international levels.
