UCSI University recently hosted a distinguished delegation from the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) at our main campus in Kuala Lumpur.

Led by the Bangladesh UGC chairman Prof Dr Syed Muhammed Abul Faiz, the visit strengthened our international educational partnerships.

We discussed higher education in both countries, explored opportunities for Bangladeshi students in Malaysia and reaffirmed our commitment to maintaining Malaysian education standards at our Bangladesh branch campus.

We extend our gratitude to all our esteemed guests, including UGC members Prof Dr Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Dr Fakhrul Islam and others.

This visit marks an exciting step towards cross-border education. We remain dedicated to providing world-class learning experiences for students globally.

On Nov 28, 2024, UCSI University was honoured to host a distinguished delegation comprising representatives from 15 Jordanian universities and editors at our Kuala Lumpur campus.

Organised by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), the visit served as a platform to explore potential collaborations, strengthening ties between Malaysia and Jordan in the field of higher education.

The delegation participated in networking sessions, engaging discussions and a campus tour that showcased UCSI’s state-of-the-art facilities and vibrant student environment. These interactions laid the foundation for academic partnerships and opportunities for Jordanian students to pursue world-class education in Malaysia.

We extend our gratitude to EMGS and our Jordanian counterparts for making this visit a success. UCSI remains committed to fostering global partnerships and delivering exceptional learning experiences that transcend borders. 

UCSI University's Institute of Creative Arts and Design (ICAD) commemorated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia with an International Poster Exhibition focused on Asian urban culture. The exhibition highlighted the unique cultures and traditions of various cities. Key events of the week included an academic forum and a film screening, both aimed at fostering stronger ties and promoting cross-cultural understanding.

On November 16, 70 enthusiastic students from UCSI's University and College embarked on a noble mission to Kuala Lipis, Pahang. Together with RCE Greater KL and The Blue Ribbons, under the sponsorship of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), they planted 400 trees, contributing to the region's ecological restoration.

After a fulfilling morning of planting, the students were treated to a delightful lunch at the Complex Alamanda. The ambience was further elevated by the live music performance by talented musicians from Sahabat Warisan Lipis (SAWALI).

The day concluded with a guided tour of Kuala Lipis by SAWALI's tour guides who shared fascinating insights into the region's rich history and cultural heritage. Through the experience, the students were inspired to continue their commitment to environmental conservation and community engagement.

The Institute of Computer Science and Digital Innovation (ICSDI) of UCSI University has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with QIS Educational Institutions to foster collaboration in dual degree and joint degree programmes, academic mobility, joint research and student and staff exchanges. The agreement highlights both institutions' shared commitment to advancing education, research and PhD programmes.

25 UCSI students and staff from the university's Institute of Computer Science and Digital Innovation came together to distribute flyers aimed at educating the community on recognising and avoiding digital threats. Each flyer featured a QR code linking to a spam awareness survey, helping participants to enhance their digital literacy. 

UCSI University held its second initiative of the Riverbank Cleanup Project of the year at the upstream section of the Ulu Klang river. 25 students and staff actively engaged in crucial environmental activities: removing trash and debris from the riverbank, planting bamboo and trees to restore the ecosystem, applying compost fertiliser to nourish new plantings and installing geotextiles to prevent erosion. The visit is part of a continuous effort to galvanise eco-warriors across Malaysia.

The expedition also included a special briefing on the Rukun Negara, emphasising the importance of unity and diversity. Students representing a vibrant mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Bajau, Indonesian, Tanzanian and Jordanian ethnicities signed a pledge to promote these values throughout their work.

For this effort, the University collaborated with the Ministry of Unity under the Sekretariat Rukun Negara (SRN) initiative, receiving full sponsorship for its efforts. Additionally, UCSI teamed up with the Group Sustainability Office - a dedicated department within UCSI that oversees and coordinates sustainability initiatives - the Alliance of River Three (ART), an environmental conservation group - and student volunteers from UCSI's Youth Beyond Boundaries.

This project directly supports the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, better known as the SDGs: SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 15 (Life on Land) and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals).

On 21 Sept 2024, a trip was planned to encourage interaction between students, foster new friendships and provide a cultural introduction to Malaysia. The day’s itinerary included a visit to the Perdana Botanical Garden in Kuala Lumpur, followed by a stop at Dataran Merdeka.

Throughout the day, the students explored the locations and participated in various activities planned by the organising team. At the end of the day, each student was left with fond memories, and the friendships formed during this trip will undoubtedly help them settle into their new life at UCSI University.

And that's a wrap! The students from FPT University Vietnam have completed their intensive English and cultural programme in Kuala Lumpur after a month. It has been an enriching experience for them - one filled with learning, growth and cross-cultural exchange. We are proud of what the students have achieved and look forward to seeing where their global journey takes them next!

UCSI University hosted its first-ever hackathon, drawing more than 400 students from high schools, colleges and universities nationwide. The highly anticipated event marked the official launch of UCSI’s Hackathon, a year-long initiative designed to challenge participants to breach a secure cloud platform and capture as many flags as possible within a limited time. This hackathon represents the latest milestone for UCSI’s Institute of Computer Science and Digital Innovation, held in collaboration with Palo Alto Networks and AceTeam Networks.  More than 100 teams competed, with team Iconitive emerging as the overall winner, securing the RM5,000 grand prize.
