UCSI University is now the sole educational and corporate partner of the World Association of Master Chefs in Malaysia. With a network of over 100,000 members including 15 Michelin-starred chefs, the international organisation stands out for its global reach in its efforts to promote the development and exchange of global hospitality culture. This alliance paves the way for UCSI’s culinary and hospitality students to gain certifications and access membership opportunities within the association. The partnership was inaugurated by Deputy Higher Education Minister YB Datuk TS Mustapha Sakmud, alongside UCSI University pro-chancellor Yang Amat Mulia, Tunku Zain Al-’Abidin and World Association of Master Chefs global president, Prof Gaven Ferguson.
On September 24th, UCSI University proudly celebrated the achievements of our SUKIPT athletes, who set a new record by finishing fourth overall and claiming the top spot among private universities in the 2024 competition. They excelled across multiple disciplines, with an impressive medal haul in swimming, basketball, badminton, and track and field.
The swimming team led the charge with 13 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals, while our basketball teams secured gold in the men's category and silver in the women's. Badminton contributed with a gold and a bronze medal, and track and field added two silver medals to the tally. The volleyball team also showed great promise by reaching the quarterfinals.
To commemorate their success, the athletes were treated to a sumptuous dinner featuring exquisite dishes prepared by Le Quadri Kuala Lumpur. The celebration was also graced by esteemed University officials, including the vice-chancellor and president Prof Emerita Datuk Ts Ir Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir, the council chairman Dato' Peter Ng and deputy vice-chancellor of academic and internalisation (Kuala Lumpur Campus) Prof Datuk Dr Rohana Yusof.
UCSI University takes immense pride in the success of our athletes and will continue to support and encourage them in their future endeavours. UCSI University celebrated its second graduation convocation of the year. The event took place on 21 September 2024, honouring the achievements of 1,131 graduates across diverse disciplines including architecture, nursing, pharmacy, computer science, hospitality and management, among others.
One of the exciting highlights of this convocation was the debut of the finalised official University song, "We are UCSI." Composed and performed by UCSI's Institute of Music, this anthem captures the essence of our students' journey and how they realise their potential during their time at the University.
The procession of the convocation ceremony was held in the presence of UCSI University’s pro-chancellor Tunku Zain Al-’Abidin Tuanku Muhriz and council chairman and founder Dato’ Peter Ng.
A workshop on Science Diplomacy, jointly organised by the International Institute of Science Diplomacy and Sustainability UCSI University and the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs was held from 20 – 22 September 2024 at the Bangi Golf Resort.
The Active and Burning Calories (ABC) Run 2024, organised by the University Pharmaceutical Sciences Students’ Association, was a vibrant event promoting both physical fitness and mental well-being. With the theme 'Boundless Run, Cheerful Hearts,' this 5km run reminded participants that staying active is essential not just for physical health, but for mental wellness too, fostering a positive and uplifting community spirit.
Last Friday marked an exciting milestone in the history of UCSI University. A memorandum of understanding was signed between UCSI and the National Chung Hsing University. This partnership focuses on advancing research, education and fostering global collaboration.
The event was hosted by UCSI University with Prof Datuk Dr Rohana Binti Yusof, deputy vice-chancellor of academic and internationalisation, Distinguished Prof Dr Phang Siew Moi, deputy vice-chancellor of research and postgraduate and Faculty of Applied Sciences dean Assoc Prof Dr Crystale Lim amongst other representatives in attendance. From the National Chung Hsing University, Distinguished Prof Dr Jan Fuh-Jyh, the president and Distinguished Prof Dr Chou Chi-Chung, the vice-president arrived alongside their delegation.

In conjunction with this special event, we proudly honoured our outstanding students with Book Prize Awards for their exceptional achievements. On 25 August 2024, UCSI University's Traditional Martial Arts for All (TMA4ALL) Malaysia presented "Unity in Motion", an event that celebrated the power of martial arts to bring people together and promote inclusivity.
The event featured a sharing session by Tun Nori Abdullah, daughter of former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who shared her personal experiences as a mother of a child with special needs and how martial arts has played a transformative role in their journey.
In collaboration with the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) and IDEAS Autism, TMA4ALL curated a range of interactive activities designed specifically for gifted children, including colouring, puzzle sessions and more.
The afternoon was filled with thrilling martial arts demonstrations by local and international experts from Malaysia, Germany, Croatia, Spain and Ireland, showcasing the disciplines of silat, taekwondo, karate and nihon taijitsu. UCSI University's own students from the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences also took to the stage to demonstrate the ancient arts of wushu and tai chi.
Furthermore, martial arts training sessions were held, allowing attendees to try their hand at various martial arts disciplines. A special section was also dedicated to gifted children, where they could learn karate in a safe and tailored environment.
UCSI Group's HR division recently launched our first-ever Mentor-Mentee Programme, featuring a great lineup of industry experts sharing their insights on leadership

- Ng Eng Hooi, head of Coaching International Culture, shared strategies for sustainable coaching
- Arulkumar Singaraveloo, Malaysia HR Forum founder, shared his personal experience as a mentor and mentee
- Christoffer Erichsen, Human Inc founding partner and CEO, spoke on how to become an innovative organisation

From August 19 to 21, The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences organised a team-building exercise for 2024, aimed at boosting morale and improving the efficiency of its staff and faculty members. This event featured various activities and games designed to promote collaboration and strengthen communication among participants.
