COMPARATIVE STUDIES OF PALMATINE WITH METFORMIN AND GLIMEPIRIDE ON THE MODULATION OF INSULIN DEPENDENT SIGNALING PATHWAY IN VITRO, IN VIVO & EX VIVO

Congratulations to Associate Professor Dr Patrick Nwabueze Okechukwu and Ms Abbirami Balachandran for their recent publication entitled, “Comparative Studies of Palmatine with Metformin and Glimepiride on the Modulation of Insulin Dependent Signaling Pathway In Vitro, In Vivo & Ex Vivo” in Pharmaceuticals [JCR Impact Factor 2021 = 5.215, Q1 in Pharmacology and Pharmacy]. 

Using computational molecular docking and pharmacokinetics along with an experimental approach with three different models (in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo), the team discovered the antidiabetic effect of Palmatine in modulating the key proteins of the insulin signalling pathway, making it a potential therapeutic agent in the treatment and management of diabetes.

INNOVATIVE INSECT MEAL FOR TROPICAL MARINE AQUACULTURE

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Ts Dr Loh Jiun Yan for receiving RM400,000 Research Grant from WWF-Malaysia to conduct research on the feed formulation of "Innovative Insect Meal for Tropical Marine Aquaculture". This project will be developing a new and sustainable insect-meal aquafeed for marine finfish aquaculture.
