Miss Sim Yan Yi |  Doctor of Philosophy (Science)She was awarded the Second Runner-Up position the Oral Presentation Award (Postgraduate) in The UTAR Intervarsity Science Symposium 2021 (UISS 2021). Under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr Nyam Kar Lin, she presented her research entitled “Application of Hibiscus cannabinus L. KR9 (Kenaf) Leaves Extract As Skin Whitening and Anti-Aging Agents in Natural Cosmetic Prototype: Valorization of a by Product”.

Assistant Professor Dr Satvinder Kaur D/O Nachatar Singh |  Faculty of Applied ScienceDr Satvinder won the best poster award at the Asia Oceania Conference on Obesity (AOCO-MASO) 2021, an international conference participated by delegates from Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Philippines. Her team presented their research entitled “Associations between chrononutrition and chronotype among Malaysian Chinese young adults: Spotlight on timing”.

She managed to explain her research in an engaging and concise manner within 3 minutes in video titled “The Association of Light Exposure with Psychosocial Factors among Pregnant Women” under the Undergraduate category. For their project entitled “Bioactive plant seed oils coloaded with nanostructured lipid carriers for UV protection and antioxidant activity.”
THEIR PROJECT RECEIVES A GRANT OF RM250,000 BY THE MALAYSIA RESEARCH UNIVERSITY NETWORK (MRUN)
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR DR LIONEL IN LIAN AUN and ASSISTANT PROFESSOR DR OH SIEW PEICongratulations to Associate Professor Dr Lionel In Lian Aun (Faculty Of Applied Sciences) and Assistant Professor Dr Oh Siew Pei (Faculty of Social Sciences and Liberal Arts) for receiving a grant of RM250,000 By the Malaysia Research University Network (MRUN) through the Young Researchers Grant Scheme (MY-RGS). Their project was titled ‘A dual-pronged approach to increase production of farmed tilapia using lactococcal-based vaccination and enzybiotic’. A total of 6 research projects were selected from a grand total of 238 applications amounting to RM1.5million.
